Winemaker Robert Egelhoff is a viticulturalist from the Napa Valley with over 20 years of professional experience in the California wine industry. Mr. Egelhoff's credentials include positions with the following companies; Beckstoffer Vineyards, Harlan Estate, Pahlmeyer Winery and Merryvale Vineyards. Mr. Egelhoff has extensive experience with premium custom winemaking and has coordinated production activities for over a dozen nationally marketed brands. Robert Egelhoff is a graduate of the University of California at Davis where he earned his B.S. in Agricultural Economics and Managerial Science with completion of the Viticulture and Enology option of the Plant Science major.
Aside from his importer/distributor company, Kalaris decided to put what he learned about the wine business to good use. With the advice of Bill Harlan and other reputable Napa growers, Kalaris started his own winery, Axios, in 1998, and positioned it as a premium Napa brand. Axios produces three wines: Axios, a "super cuvee" limited production 100% Cabernet Sauvignon; Worthy, a "mid level" Cabernet blend; and the Truth, a value Cabernet Syrah blend.
