In 1994 Anthony Bell left BV to pursue his passion for exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon, and to found Bell Wine Cellars, with a mission of producing small quantities of hand crafted single vineyard wines. His first project was with long-time friend and BV grower John Baritelle. The two men began to implement the result of Bell's clonal research on several acres of Baritelle's vineyard. With the 1991 vintage, small lots of vineyard-designated Jackson clone (Clone 6) Cabernet Sauvignon were produced.
